چکیده
This work reports new experimental data regarding the impact of H2 on slightly sooting methane flames (Φ–1.91) characterized by formation soot particles undergoing growth processes. study has been carried out in three atmospheric premixed with added (2% total flowrate) or substituted (10% molar comparing to CH4 fuel). The mole fraction profiles selected aliphatic and aromatic compounds (C1-C16) have measured Gas Chromatography Jet-Cooled Laser-Induced Fluorescence. Concerning particles, we implemented for first time an analytical methodology based in-situ measurements Laser-induced Incandescence Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy coupled ex-situ Scanning Mobility Particle Sizing (SMPS). original approach allows determine volume corresponding evolution particle number density size function without requiring accurate knowledge dilution ratio during SMSP measurements. reported highlight that introduction strongly influences species depending operating conditions (H2 addition substitution). was evaluated nucleation step In context, notably show substitution inhibits while favors nascent furthermore generates substantial modifications dynamic also supports idea onset might be controlled specific concentration thresholds precursors.

Chemically-Passive Suppression of Laminar Premixed Hydrogen Flames in Microgravity
Effects of chemically-passive fire suppressants on laminar premixed hydrogen flames were investigated by combined use of microgravity experiments and computations. The experiments used a short-drop free-fall laboratory facility that provides at least 450 ms of 2 10 g. Near -limit laminar burning velocities were measured for outwardly propagating spherical stoichiometric hydrogen-air flames with...
متن کاملThe effects of added hydrogen to the premixed of methane and air in a MEMS channel
In this paper, the effect of adding hydrogen to the composition of methane and air in a micro combustor is investigated by a three-dimensional numerical method. First, the results of the current study in determining the wall temperature of the micro combustion chamber are compared with those obtained from the experimental and numerical results of the previous research. By confirming the numeric...
متن کاملSoot Formation in Laminar Diffusion Flames
Laminar, sooting, coflow diffusion flames at atmospheric pressure have been studied experimentally and theoretically as a function of fuel dilution by inert nitrogen. The flames have been investigated with laser diagnostics. Laser extinction has been used to calibrate the experimental soot volume fractions and an improved gating method has been implemented in the laser-induced incandescence (LI...
متن کاملSoot Formation in Laminar Partially Premixed Coflow Flames by Thermophoretic Particle Densitometry
The formation of soot particles in combustion depends on several factors that include: pressure, temperature, fuel chemical structure and extent of premixing. An improved version of the thermophoretic particle densitometry (TPD) method, has been used in this study for quantitative and qualitative characterization of soot particles generated in laminar partially-premixed co-flow flames having di...
